infant acneInfant acne, or baby acne, occurs quite naturally on the skin of babies (particularly on the face, neck and shoulders), anything from a few weeks old up to 6 months old. Unlike the teen or adult acne, infant acne usually goes away by itself. One reason that in fact acne occurs is because the babies are learning the various hormones in the body. Sometimes it is also believed that the hormone received by the fetus is responsible for the pimples. Scientists are also looking for other factors that may flare up the acne. But one thing is 90% sure: infant acne goes away by itself.

People are looking for natural treatments for acne in their infants, but from experience I have to say that this is in most of the cases not necessary. Many times it is believed that the pimples on face of infant occurs due to dirt and dust and people are eager to wash the face several times with soap. This is something I do not recommend, as some of the cosmetic soap can aggravate the situation. Rubbing the pimples and skin will also flare up the acne, same with rubbing with towel, so try to avoid these. You could wash instead the face of the baby gently with non-irritating soap, and use a very soft towel to easily dry the face.

That is all is needed really, and the rest is simply enjoy your time with the baby, and don’t worry about infant acne. This type of acne will go away by itself as soon as the baby is over that certain age and his body can handle the new hormones.
