Herbal acne treatment - part I - Acne home remedies
When you want to give acne natural treatment a go, herbal acne treatment is a must. Herbs are part of natural treatments, and by not using them, you will give yourself less chances to cure your acne, or anything else that you want to cure naturally.
So having the theory out of the way, what are those herbs that can help you treat acne the natural way?
There are two ways to go about this.
- First, herbs as part of home remedies, that you can prepare all by yourself.
- Second, as part of commercial natural products. Commercial products that contain natural ingredients, such as herbs, herbal extracts, oil and essences, even though also contain various chemicals, are very useful in treating acne and it would be a pitty to not give these a shot.
In the first part of this article, I will discuss some herbal treatments that you can do from the comfort of your home. The second part will review a few commercial products that contain enough natural ingredients (herbs in one form or another) that they qualify as natural treatments.Home remedies using herbs to treat acne
Some of the most commonly used herbs in treating acne are:
calendula, German chamomile, Witch hazel, Licorice root, Flax seed and flax seed oil, and also Tea Tree Oil.
These herbs and natural ingredients help reduce acne inflammation, and they do so by reducing the amount of the P.acnes bacteria produced by the body as a reaction to clogged pores. For example, Tea Tree oil has been favorably compared to benzoyl peroxide in the reduction of P.acnes and is said to have fewer side effects (stinging, itchiness and dry skin).
- apply a pack made by boiling 50 gm of raspberry, strawberry or blackberry leaves with 1.5 litres of water for 3 minutes will give itching free and soothing skin. Quite an effective remedy for acne.
- Aloe Vera is one of the newer methods that are used successfully in treating acne. Soaps and gels made from Aloe Vera serves a good purpose in healing the acne damaged skin.
- the orange peel is also quite effective in the treatment of acne.
- make a paste by mixing honey and cinnamon powder. Apply the paste while sleeping and wash the face next morning with luke warm water. This is a good natural remedy for acne that you can put together at home.
- mix one tablespoon of groundnut oil with one tablespoon of lime juice for treating your zits.
- apply fresh lime juice mixed with a half glass of boiled milk for treating pimples, blackheads and cracked skin and dried skin.
- take 2 tablespoon of white sugar and 1 tablespoon of brown sugar and wet a little and rub your face. This is another widely used natural home remedy for acne.
- another good home remedy for acne is to apply ripe tomatoes paste on pimples and wash it after keeping for an hour.
- make a paste of turmeric powder in mint juice, keep it for 30 minutes and then wash with lukewarm water. This is another good home remedy for acne
- apply a paste of fresh fenugreek leaves in water, keep it overnight and wash the face with warm water next morning.
- take lime juice and rose water and mix in equal portions. Apply every night after gently washing the face with luke warm water. Keep it for 30 minutes and then again wash the face and pat dry. This is one of the effective home remedies for Acne
- finally make a mix of roasted & powdered pomegranate skin with fresh lime juice and apply over the affected parts. This is another effective acne home remedy.
These are all great acne home remedies using herbs and other natural ingredients that have proved time and time again to work in curing acne. Not each herbal acne treatment works for every type of skin. However they are all natural, and none of them harm you. As soon as you find the home remedy that works for you best, stick with it, don’t move on to another one.
